The drive takes about five to six hours, passing through Rwanda’s countryside and tea plantations. Depending on arrival time, you may stop for lunch along the way. By evening, you check into your lodge near Nyungwe, where you can relax and prepare for the next day’s chimpanzee trek. This day is mainly for travel, giving you time to settle in before the adventure begins

The day starts early with a briefing at Nyungwe headquarters. Rangers lead you into the forest to track chimpanzees, which may take one to four hours. Once found, you spend an hour observing their behavior. After lunch, you head to the canopy walkway, a suspended bridge above the forest offering views of treetops, birds, and monkeys. This combination of trekking and canopy walk provides both close wildlife encounters and a unique perspective of the forest. By evening, you return to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Afterward, you return to Kigali, arriving in the afternoon. Depending on time, you may visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local markets, or enjoy a short city tour before your flight.
