Day 1: Pickup, Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, depart Kampala or Entebbe and begin the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. The journey passes through central Uganda's countryside, with scenic views of rolling hills, cultivated farmland, trading centers, and local communities. A stop over for lunch en route before continuing through the highland landscapes toward Bwindi. As you approach the park, the terrain becomes increasingly mountainous and forested, providing a glimpse of the habitat that supports the endangered mountain gorillas. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon or evening, check in, and spend the remainder of the day relaxing after the long drive. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge as you prepare for the following day's gorilla trekking activity.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Following an early breakfast, report to the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters for a briefing before beginning your gorilla trekking experience. Accompanied by experienced ranger guides, hike through Bwindi's tropical rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The duration of the trek depends on the movement of the gorillas and the terrain. Once located, spend one hour observing their behavior and taking photographs while following park regulations. After returning from the forest, enjoy lunch before checking out of the lodge and driving to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey passes through the scenic southwestern countryside before arriving at your lodge in or near the park. Check in, have dinner, and relax in preparation for the next day's activities.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

After breakfast, head to Kyambura Gorge for a briefing before starting your chimpanzee trekking experience. The forested gorge is home to a habituated chimpanzee community as well as several bird species, monkeys, and diverse plant life. Accompanied by park rangers, follow forest trails while searching for the chimpanzees and learning about the ecosystem of this unique underground forest. After the trek, enjoy lunch before proceeding to the Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat cruise. The channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George and supports large populations of hippos, Nile crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and numerous water birds along its shores. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kampala

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kampala

Begin the day with an early morning game drive across the Kasenyi Plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This area offers opportunities to observe elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, hyenas, and, with some luck, lions and leopards before they retreat from the open plains. Your guide will help identify wildlife while explaining the park's ecosystems and conservation efforts. After the game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast, check out, and begin the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. Stop for lunch along the way and enjoy views of western Uganda's rolling hills, tea plantations, and rural communities before continuing to your preferred drop-off location, marking the end of your safari.
