Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your adventure begins as you land at Entebbe International Airport, where your dedicated safari guide will greet you. Since Bwindi is roughly 8–9 hours south by road, you have two options: a scenic but long drive through lush hills and villages, or a quick 1–2 hour domestic flight to a nearby airstrip, which saves energy for trekking. Upon arrival in the Bwindi area, you will check into your eco-lodge, nestled on the edge of the misty rainforest. The evening is for resting, enjoying a hot dinner, and listening to a pre-trek briefing from your guide, who will confirm your gorilla permit, assign you to a specific gorilla family, and explain essential safety and etiquette rules. Prepare your daypack with water, rain gear, and sturdy hiking boots, as tomorrow promises an unforgettable encounter.

Day 2:Gorilla Trekking and Lake Bunyonyi Experience

Wake before dawn for an early breakfast and a short drive to the park headquarters, where you join a small group of fellow trekkers and expert rangers. The trek can last anywhere from one to six hours, depending on where the gorillas spent the night, as you hike through dense, steep bamboo and rainforest. Once your allocated gorilla family is located, you will have exactly one breathtaking hour to observe them feeding, playing, and interacting, often just a few meters away. After the trek, you will return to your lodge for a well-earned lunch and rest. In the late afternoon, drive approximately one hour to stunning Lake Bunyonyi, known as the "place of many little birds." Here, you can take a peaceful canoe ride between its 29 islands, swim safely (it is bilharzia-free), or simply admire the terraced hills, providing a serene contrast to the morning's intense adventure.

Day 3: Return to Kampala and Departure

After a relaxed breakfast overlooking Lake Bunyonyi, you will begin your journey back to Entebbe or Kampala. The drive takes approximately 7–8 hours, passing through rolling green hills, small towns, and the equator line near Kayabwe, where you can stop for a quick photo and a simple water demonstration. You will have a lunch break en route, often at a local restaurant serving Ugandan classics like grilled tilapia or matoke. Your guide will drop you at Entebbe International Airport in time for your evening departure flight, ensuring you arrive relaxed and on schedule. While the return drive is long, it offers a final chance to reflect on your incredible gorilla encounter and absorb Uganda's beautiful countryside. With your memories and photos safely stored, you will board your flight home, having completed a short but intensely rewarding safari.
