Your safari begins with pickup from Kigali or your hotel, followed by a drive through Rwanda’s countryside toward Nyungwe National Park. Along the way, you pass tea plantations where you can stop for a tea experience, learning about the growing and processing of Rwanda’s famous tea. On arrival at Nyungwe, you check into your lodge and prepare for the afternoon activities. Depending on time, you may take a short walk around the lodge area to stretch after the drive. Dinner is served at the lodge, giving you a chance to relax and prepare for the next day’s chimpanzee trekking. Comfortable travel clothes and a light jacket are recommended, as the forest area is cooler compared to Kigali.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk Adventure

The second day starts early with chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest. Guided by experts, you follow trails to locate chimp families and observe their behavior in their natural environment. The trek can take a few hours depending on their movement, so a reasonable level of fitness is helpful. After the trek, you return to the lodge for refreshment before heading out for the canopy walk.
