Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park and Bigodi Wetland Walk
Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or residence in Kampala or Entebbe, followed by a scenic drive westwards to Kibale National Park, one of Uganda's most celebrated tropical rainforests. The journey passes through rolling hills, traditional villages, tea plantations, and beautiful countryside, with several stopovers for photography and refreshments. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch before heading to the nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk. After an early breakfast, transfer to the Kibale National Park visitor Centre for a briefing by experienced Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers before beginning your chimpanzee trekking adventure. Accompanied by knowledgeable guides, venture into the lush rainforest in search of habituated chimpanzees while encountering other primates, colorful birds, and fascinating forest vegetation along the way. Once the chimpanzees are located, spend one unforgettable hour observing their behavior, feeding, communication, and social interactions in their natural habitat. The cool morning hours provide excellent opportunities to spot lions, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, hyenas, waterbucks, and numerous bird species before they retreat from the rising temperatures. After the game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast before checking out and beginning the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe.
